Interested in becoming a Governor?

Chester International School (CIS) opened its doors in September 2017. It is an innovative 14-19 school housed in a new, purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility in the heart of Chester. CIS has a passion for holistic education, designed to better prepare young people for life in an increasingly interconnected global economy.

Governors have an important part to play in raising school standards through their three key roles of setting strategic direction, ensuring accountability and monitoring and ensuring that financial resources are well spent.

Vacancies for Governors arise every year and the Governing Body welcomes interest from suitably motivated and committed individuals who believe they can make a positive difference and add real value to the school’s current well-being and future development.

We’re looking for people with commitment, vision and energy who can bring skills or professional experience that can add real value to the school and all its stakeholders.

The Governing Body at CIS now has greater responsibilities than ever before: we need people of talent who can commit the time necessary to fulfil the role to the required standard. The minimum expectation is that you will attend all the Governing Body meetings that are held once per term after school hours.

Subject to their work and other commitments, Governors may also be invited to participate in a successful initiative that links the skills and interests of individual Governors with specific needs of the school, i.e. Safeguarding. This may involve termly or more frequent meetings at school.

From time to time, governors may also be required to take part in interview panels for recruitment or disciplinary purposes. You’ll also be encouraged to attend social events and performances that are presented by the students.

There is immense satisfaction to be gained from working alongside like-minded individuals on the Governing Body, and influencing the future development and direction of this ground-breaking school. To express your interest, please send a covering letter (no more than one side of A4) together with a CV to Katrina Brown, CIS Principal kbrown@chesterinternational.co.uk
