Chester International School Excels Globally Once Again

Chester International School, an inclusive IB World School, is recognized for its impactful contributions to the education sector.  On Friday, July 5th, IB Diploma Programme results were released worldwide. Students in the programme undertake a rigorous curriculum, studying six subjects—three at higher level and three at standard level. Each subject includes a coursework component, fostering practical skills particularly in the Experimental Sciences and the Arts.

"We are delighted to announce that our students' DP average point score once again surpasses the global average. The average scores are equivalent to three A*’s at A level.  This is a testament to the dedication and hard work of both our students and supportive staff," said Abbey Peers, IB Director at Chester International School.

As the only institution of its kind in northern England, Chester International School offers both the International Baccalaureate Diploma and Career Programmes for its sixth form. With increasing demand, the sixth form is set to expand this year.

Robyn, a Year 13 student who achieved a top Diploma score, shared her experience: "After being home educated until Year 10, CIS was the perfect school for me. I felt welcomed from the start and formed close connections with peers and teachers. I will miss my time at the school but am excited to start my dream course in marine biology at Southampton this September. This would not have been possible without the support and dedication of the staff."

Students are drawn to the programme not only for its prestigious reputation but also for the opportunity to study a diverse range of subjects, gain fully funded international work experience, and participate in core components that develop critical thinking and research skills.

Vice Principal Daryl Goodwin announced, "We have successfully secured Turing Scheme funding for the fourth consecutive year. Our trust has been able to provide nearly 300 international student placements with over £500,000 in grant funding. In the summer of 2025, our Year 12 cohort will visit Japan, completely funded."

Today, results for the BTEC/CTEC components of the Career Programme were released. This pathway suits students who prefer coursework-based assessment and wish to develop technical skills in a specific area. Once again Chester International School proudly reported a 100% pass rate for this programme.

"I am incredibly proud of all our IB learners in the Sixth Form. Our focus on fostering a thirst for knowledge and developing essential character traits sets our students apart, preparing them for success as global citizens," said Principal Katrina Brown.

Elliot, a Year 13 student who achieved a double distinction in the CP, commented, "The CP was definitely the right choice for me. The course allowed me to focus on subjects I was passionate about, which prepared me for a career in graphic design."

Alex, another Year 13 student who also achieved a double distinction, added, "The CP was a fantastic experience. I explored various future pathways and practiced video editing for projects like the Reflective Project. Language Development was particularly enjoyable."

Graduates are now embarking on a wide variety of exciting pathways, including placements at Russell Group Universities, voluntary work during an overseas gap year, apprenticeships, and employment.
