Fantastic news for CIS!

Fantastic news for CIS!

(Posted on 15/02/18)

Planning permission has been granted by for construction of our purpose built centre that will provide up to 320 places for students aged 14-19 and CIS will move to this purpose-built specially-designed centre during the Autumn term in 2018.

The open and spacious three-storey building will feature state of the art technology, and will include its own labs, makerspace, creative media suite, art studio, lecture hall and dedicated centre.

Principal Kate Ryan said: “This is fantastic news. We are excited to grow in our building which has been designed specifically for our students and our style of learning. The unanimous decision for the build reflects the support for CIS in the Chester community. "

CIS is currently based on the Queen's Park campus, where it opened in September 2017.

Popular with families and pupils, CIS continues to raise educational and performance standards and has received a glowing Department for Education report and opened with a strong Ofsted report.

Kate Ryan said: “CIS provides a high quality, rounded education and all students are supported to reach his or her potential. Through our IB Curriculum with IB Diploma and IB Career Programme , our students not only have a secure educational foundation, but also prepare them to be leaders in  a rapidly changing world.”

We have started with a number suitable for our temporary accommodation and we will grow next year, 280 and then reach capacity in Year 4. With two year courses and waiting for our permanent build mean a staggered growth.  We continue to offer student information sessions three evenings a week to prospective families. I think we can be confident to say that there is demand for a small, personalized education which has efficient use of technology at its core.

As myself and Katrina had opened IB schools elsewhere in the world, we were able to achieve accreditation in two IB programmes before opening, a first in the world and we also achieved this without the need for any consultancy fees. We are able to run a balanced budget on our numbers and do not incur any additional costs nor require supplemental support.

Most importantly, I would invite anybody to come and explore what we have to offer, to meet our team and our community and find out more.

We are thrilled our permanent home for our school is moving forward and that there has been such a positive response to the reuse of another building from the local community. With so many exciting things already happening, we are all looking forward to a space to grow and flourish in the coming years.
