Combined Science (Y10-11)

2 Year GCSE Combined Science (year 10 and 11)

Science

Our exciting GCSE Combined Science program is a 2 year curriculum which follows the Exdexcel specification using the new 9-1 grading system. Science really matters and our program helps students to develop a natural curiosity for the world around them. Students will form an understanding of the nature of Science through the inquiry cycle. Students will learn how to evaluate and be critical of Science based claims.

Our approach gives students experience with a large selection of hands-on practical opportunities so they can perfect observational, enquiry, modelling and problem-solving skills whilst allowing them to develop their Scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding of the three specific disciplines: Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The Biology topics look at the natural world on a biomolecular level all the way to a systematic level where you study how organisms interact with one another in an ecosystem. The Chemistry topics cover matter, molecules and chemical reactions and the physics covers topics related to cause and effect, the laws of physics and the importance of proportionality to name a few. The program is assessed by way of written examinations, in each of the three disciplines at the end of the course.
