GCSE / IB Middle Years Programme / Key Stage 4
As a fully accredited IB World School we offer the IB Middle Years Programme at KS4/Year 10 and 11.
This highly academic offering involves learners studying up to 10 GCSE’s taught within an IB MYP framework. Learners taking the full IB Middle Years Programme will also study the core components alongside their GCSE subjects. The core components consist of:
- The Personal Project – A personal inquiry into a specific area of interest which can make an impact on others
- Service and Action – Skill building electives and character building volunteering opportunities
Our Key Stage 4 curriculum for 14-16 year olds has been specifically designed for students who wish to keep their career options open, or who may be interested in working abroad in the future. Students will be expected to push and challenge themselves, supported by excellent teaching, academic mentors and personal coaches.
This programme is an excellent foundation for the IB Diploma Programme, IB Levels or the IB Career Programme in the Sixth Form. We therefore expect learners to view this provision as a 4-year learning journey.

In the summer term of year 9 all learners with an offer of a place in year 10 will be required to come along to sit a baseline assessment, undergo diagnostic testing and share historical pastoral information.
This will allow us to build a curriculum to suit individual needs. We will use the results of the information we have collected to create an online transitional programme which learners will be required to complete ahead of joining us in the September of year 10. This will only be a requirement where our indicators show a learner may have develop gaps in their key stage 3 educational journey. For some learners a more flexible key stage 4 curriculum offer would become available as outlined below:
