The Arts Diploma Programme at CIS aims to promote a broad understanding and appreciation of the visual world through making and engaging with art, through exploring, analysing and reflecting upon the art work of contemporary artists, photographers, craftspeople, and designers. Making connections with appropriate areas of art history from different times, places and cultures will be essential in order to develop intercultural understanding, open-mindedness and the attitudes necessary to respect and evaluate a range of viewpoints.
Students will be challenged to explore and develop skills within a wide range of disciplines. There will be opportunities to work within a diverse range of drawing, painting, collage, print making, digital media and non-art materials allowing students to develop ideas in both 2D and 3D. Students will learn a variety of practical skills that create the platform for an inquiring mind extending their individual development. It is my intention that all students will be given a broad approach into exploring images and artefacts that balance with the making of art that is relevant to today’s world. The very nature of our subject allows the teacher and student to contribute and identify towards the intellectual, emotional, social, physical and spiritual development of our thoughts and ideas.
