School Day

Chester International School integrates traditional timetabled lessons, with student directed self-scheduled sessions, and opportunities to develop new skills and pursue existing passions. Our dedicated coaching and pastoral team are available to support students throughout all aspects of our working day.

There are currently 36.25 hours in the school week. We operate a 2 week timetable.

The school day starts at 8:30am and finishes at 3:45pm.

Timetabled study

Lessons are taught using inquiry based learning, with the curriculum delivered through inter/transdisciplinary units of inquiry.

Self-scheduled sessions

Students are given time each week to complete additional work set by teachers to support their progress and develop their independence.

Enrichment Electives

Students are able to pursue enrichment electives each term that reflect their personal interests in the areas of ‘Health and Wellbeing’ and ‘Creativity’.

Core elements

Core elements of the IB and CIS philosophies are embedded within the school day, including coaching, languages, professional skills, peer tutoring, service learning and expert seminars.
