Y13 IB Career Programme Smashing It!!
(Posted on 06/10/22)
On Wednesday 17th August learners undertaking the IB Career Programme (CP) pathway were due to receive their Career Related Study component result which would complete the award enabling them to secure their destinations. Learners had been studying the CTEC Digital media course with exam board OCR. As if the learners had not navigated through enough challenges during the pandemic, when it came time to collect their grades, OCR had struggled to produce results on time and released an apology statement attributing the delay to the complexity of the award calculation. This delay had caused additional stress to thousands of learners across the country. Learners at Chester International School finally began to receive their results from Sunday 21st August. Fast forward a few months and our learners are now settled into their next steps with some starting University this week.
The school is delighted to announce that learners have produced a fantastic set of results this year with over 50% of the CP cohort achieving at least one Distinction grade and over 40% achieving double distinction grades. The group smashed the IB global pass rate for this academic year.
Isabella (pictured below) received her results remotely whilst battling the elements on a Duke of Edinburgh trip. Isabella is thrilled with her D*D* award which along with her other components has provided her with a staggering 182 UCAS points. Isabella has secured her placed at the British Institute of Modern Music to study a BMus in Song Writing.
The Principal said: ‘Learners had continued to work on their coursework throughout lockdown and during the recent exam season often juggling exams and submission deadlines. Due to their experiences our hard-working learners are leaving with a unique set of skills and key character traits which will stand them in good stead for a very successful future ahead. We are so proud of their achievements and wish them all the best for the future.'
